MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER AND RESILIENCE COACH DEE HANKINS TO VISIT TRINITY

Hankins to work with student groups and host “Community Night” resilience workshop

During the week of Monday, March 31st the Trinity County Office of Education will host a 3-day visit from nationally known motivational speaker and resilience coach Dee Hankins.

A master storyteller and a self-proclaimed "Wal-mart version of Kevin Hart" comedian, Dee Hankins will bring laughter, clarity, passion, and motivation to your students so that they can succeed in their lives.

Hankins’ personal story informs his work. Entering the foster care system at 2 months old Hankins bounced around 12 different homes by the time he was eight years old. Despite these challenges, he found stability through education and after graduating from high school went on to Long Beach State, where he ran track and earned a B.S in Criminal Justice.

Dee dedicates his work to assist others in breaking the cycle of adversity in facing challenges and turning them into transformative experiences.  “My upbringing in foster care not only shaped my identity but also fueled my passion for helping others.  By sharing my journey, I aim to inspire resilience and encourage others to turn their obstacles into opportunities.”  Using his transformational story, Dee assists students and adults to change their perspective, help others in need and help them to understand themselves and those around them.

This three day event will consist of two full days of work with local students and school staff in both large and small groups, working through concepts of resilience on the personal, team and organizational levels.   The visit will be closed out with a Community Night taking place at the Trinity High School Gym on Wednesday, April 2nd, starting at 5:30 pm.  Food will be provided for up to 250 attendees and local community members, educational partners, local leaders, students and parents are all encouraged to attend.   For the Community Night event Dee will be joined by DJ Johnson, a long-time collaborator and school counselor, providing a high energy informative evening of personal and community resilience coaching.
