To Meet State Requirements for Employment as an Instructional Aide:

• You must take three test sections include Reading-Language Arts, Ability to Assist Classroom Instruction and Mathematics.
• Individuals MUST pre-register - Please call  623-2861 
• Please bring a current/valid ID & Social Security Card
• Each section must be passed with a 70% or higher
• You will be able to use a calculator (provided by the test administrator)

Ways to Prepare for the Certification Testing

• Practice tests are available online. Search for the practice CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) Math and ELA tests to prepare.  
• Khan Academy - Math problem solving, fractions, percentages, averages, areas, simplifying

Testing dates for 2024-25 are typically held on Thursdays from 10-12

The following are requirement to perform the duties of a Paraprofessional in California

- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent, and

- Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction
- Local educational agencies may also have specific requirements for employment.

Para Professional Exam may be forgone if one of the following requirements have been met

- High school diploma or the equivalent, and two years of college or 48 units completed

- AA Degree or higher
